Rock music producer Phil Spector was convicted Monday of second-degree murder in the shooting death of actress Lana Clarkson at his mansion six years ago. (April 13)
"And it seems to me, you lived your life/Like a candle in the wind/Never knowing who to cling to when the rain set in/And I would've liked to know you/But I was just a kid/Your candle burned out long before your legend ever did."
I also think that Lana may have unconsciously set herself up to be killed by Phil, and that her surviving family members are not sure what led her to move in with him (she wanted to get herself more attention, but Phil was definitely a huge mistake), especially after our Barbarian Queen had been recovering after an accident in Christmas 2001 that led her to temporarily cancel her next career move (stand-up comedy).
What Lana could have done, before her untimely death: she could have dialed 911 the instant that Spector was to do his requested sexual favors from her. She would have complained to the authorities that Spector was threatening to kill her if she did not do any actions that he wanted from her.
She would have also requested a restraining order that would've prevented Spector from being within 150 yards of her. Spector would also be prohibited from the House of Blues that Lana was working for.
"That's right Phil, you lost! And let me tell you what you didn't win: a 20-volume set of the Encyclopedia International! A case of Turtle Wax! And a year's supply of Rice-A-Roni, the San Francisco Treat! But that's not all! You also made yourself look like a jerk in front of millions of people! And you brought shame and disgrace on your family name for generations to come! You don't get to come back tomorrow! You don't even get a lousy copy of our home game! You're a complete loser!!!"
