  • At the end of Paul Washer's recent sermon "The Lost Gospel," he claimed it does not matter if one holds to Arminianism or Calvinism. 1689Baptist, do you agree with Washer, especially since your channel name connects you directly to a Particular Baptist confession written by men who clearly thought one should never be an Arminian? Any comments?

  • @cccathena

Send me a link so I can listen for myself. I do not trust you to take Paul Washer in context.

  • @1689Baptist,

Jeff, it's at very end of the sermon (The Lost Gospel).

Listen to the entire sermon. I wrote a small essay on it a couple of months ago pointing it out.

  • @cccathena

I listened to the last part, and yes, you are misrepresenting what he is saying.

He preaches this sermon everywhere he goes, so I have heard it many times. But I will listen to this one later.

  • @1689Baptist Would you say that most who receive the Gospel (John 1:12), though they don't initially deliberate over Synergism/Monergism, their response to the Gospel is trust and belief in the finished work of Jesus Christ ALONE? They affirm their transgressions against God and realize that though justice is due, there is grace through God's only Son, born of virgin, lived a holy life, suffered and gave his life a ransom on a cross, buried, risen three days later for our justification.

Yes, I know Arminians that when I try to show them that free will is synergistic, they will quickly tell me NO, NO, I did nothing for my salvation, I deserve nothing. I think the Holy Spirit stamps Christ Alone on the hearts of those that are His, even when they have bad theology.

  • This was really Good

  • @cccathena why even start?

we will understand when we are glorified, lol or maybe we still wont .

but honestly calvisism and arminianism have befenfits and detriments, in my opinion. and his ways are above our ways.

we are commanded to love not to be most correct.

gods word is correct, yes, truth in love but if jesus is truth and jesus is god and god is love, we cannot fully walk in truth and in love because we do not understand it fully!

im rambling and i dont know if this made and sense

  • yes all glory for Jesus!

  • the really servant of Jesus brother Washer
