A revised Cadillac engine this year included a lighter and stronger crankshaft and a stiffer block wighing fifty pounds less. Displacement went from 390 cid to 429, still a 325 bhp. 1964 was the year that GM styled hardtop steel roofs that resembled a convertible top. GM also developed a convertible roof and window closing feature when rain would start to fall. Talk about a luxury car option! Beside the more powerful engine, the accessories included power steering, power brakes, power windows, power locks, air conditioning, power radio antenna, power seats, AM radio, a full set of gauges excluding a tachometer, and leather / cloth interior. So, in 1964 this is what $ 5,386 would get you - a Cadillac hardtop, the luxury car that was the " Standard of the World ". Thanks very much for viewing this original surviving Cadillac DeVille hardtop.

  • @MrTitan225 Wow, what a story. bought your neighbors Caddy. And what a fancy garage to keep it in. Thanks very much for sharing your story about a beautiful 64 Cadillac.

  • is this a miami vice car?

  • @Bullroad Man, I can't remember what cars were in Miami Vice so you got me. But thanks for viewing this Caddy.

  • Rode across the country from NJ to Wyoming in one of these with my mom and dad in '76. The transmission gave out in Rapid City, SD, and we had to hang around there an extra two days so it could be fixed. Lt. Blue with matching all-leather interior, rather like this. Ice-cold air, plenty of room for a 15 y.o. to sleep on the back seat.

  • @50zcarsman Well, you rode, or rather slept in the back seat, in style. I always slept in the back seat too on vacations. It beats repeatedly saying, " are we there yet? " . I can see that Caddy your Dad owned, and it was a beauty. Always nice to have ice cold air, ( and beer ). Thanks for the memory.

  • ----forgot to mention, my Cadillac was a1964 also

  • @kisscactus Thanks, this is a beautiful '64

  • Nice video and beautiful car!

    P.S. That's a 1964 Cadillac.

  • @themamagoatshow You know, sometimes you just can't find the owner of cars at car cruises. There are no placards on the car to state the year. When I posted this I looked at my car reference books and was petty sure this was a '63. I recently bought the book Cadillac Classics with better photos and noticed that the '63 & '64 were very similiar. However, the '64 has a painted divider on the front grille and that convinced my it's a '64. I will change dialogue soon. Thanks for your help.
