This song was written by Phil Everly of the Everly Brothers. Phil and his brother Don recorded the first version of the song, which peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at #8 in the summer of 1960. 'When Will I Be Loved' also reached #2 on the Hot 100 with Linda Ronstadt's 1974 version. I really like both versions of the song.

This was recorded in the key of D using Soprano and Baritone ukuleles, while singing the two part harmonies.

  • why?

  • @amyoosme why not?

  • Love the clone production and excellent choice of song! I want to do an Everly Brothers song, but they're Warner Music Group artists, aren't they?

  • @keonepax I didn't even think to check before I recorded this video.

According to Wikipedia they were signed with Cadence records up until 1960 when they switched to Warner. This song was actually recorded while they were with Cadence, although it wasn't released until they had moved to Warner.

So from what I understand this video should be safe. What do you think?

  • That was GRRRRRrrreat! I admire your pizza box collection.

  • @UkesterBrown lol thanks, it just figured out the reference in the first part of your comment.

Regarding the pizza boxes, I'm living in a new neighborhood this fall and have been trying different pizza places every week to decide which place is the best.

  • I love the Everly Brothers, and I ALWAYS love ukulele covers of their songs!

  • @cjhoylemusic If WMG hasn't made a copyright claim yet, I guess it's all right. Certain WMG artists like James Taylor seem safe to cover... I don't know exactly what their criteria are. Anyway, great vid! Keep up the wonderful work!

  • Thanks CJ for letting me know about your Bari video. It is a Bari-exclusive blog and you're on Humble Baritonics again! I enjoyed the show! Jeff
