Just to back up your points, Fraser, and annoy sleepwalker:
In NFL, a player only has to make 10 yards at any 1 time. In rugby, the player might have to make the full 100 metres.
Your final point, sleepwalker "American football players are amazingly better athelet (athletes) than rugby players" - WRONG! Rugby players play for a full 80 minutes unless they are subbed, whereas an NFL player might only play in 10 second bursts, clearly showing the greater athleticism of rugby players.

You want to lose your gut
Football: "In English League matches, the sprint distances average 15m and occur about every 90 seconds," says Nick Morgan, from the Lucozade Sports Science Academy. It's hardcore interval training. And no need to stick your head between other men's thighs.

@sleepwalker8 hang on, what the fuck are you talking about? before you were talking about 'football' with helmets? now you are talking about the english league? hey fuck, why not make the point that people that play cricket hardly ever get injured! ITS A DIFFERENT SPORT, and not simply a means to the end of getting fit. please pick a point you would like to make and then defend it in a cogent manner.

Try to insult me with good grammer when you should've tried with education, these are the facts sir,I will however applogise for my cockyness. My friends (from UK) & I always argue this subject, call it pride but as I said these are the facts, and yes I think rugby may be a tougher sport, butI believe in safety above all,but being healthy is the key, once again sorry for my bad attitude, cheers.

@sleepwalker8 jesus dude. dont spam my page with all that mad rambling. for starters: in what sense does the avg weight, its injury rate or type of endurance required of a player make a game better or worse? your contention was that football players are 'better athletes' than rugby players? well some of them may be great athletes, but lots of them are giant fat arses who wouldnt last 10 minutes in a game that doesnt stop every 3 seconds. remember the avg football game only has 12 mins of play.

Why do ppl from the uk think american football is weak because we wear padding & helmets, this might not make sense to you rugby fan/players,but being a paraplegic without teeth is not smart ,also american football players are amazingly better athelet than rugby players, sorry its true.

@sleepwalker8 1. prefixing any statement you make with an apology does not make it true. thats so weak, its not even a logical fallacy. 2. have you seen how fat some football players are? rugby demands stamina, while some wrs, rbs lbs etc are fit, this is not universal in football, so dont pretend it is. 3. we dont wear padding and helmets as they are not necessary. why do people who defend nfl always feel they must make a case for all the protection they wear? is it because they know its ott?
