Dow Solar Solutions showcased its solar shingles at the 2011 International Builders' Show. The photovoltaic shingles integrate seamlessly with asphalt shingles and can be installed by any roofing contractor, who simply feeds an electrical harness through the roof to be connected to the home's electrical supply. As part of its IBS 2011 Best of Show series, AvidBuilder met with Dow to learn how this system addresses concerns about solar's aesthetics, cost, installation and warranty.

  • Remember how much the first PC computers cost? A few thousand.

Remember how much the first flat screen TVs cost? A few thousand.

Give it time, the cost will come down

  • the cost factor... the robotic salesman fails to mention is ONLY $25,000 dollars. So let's say your electrical bill averages $250/month... it would take you 100 months to break even on your initial investment before you even began to enjoy the cost savings the system offers. and 100 months equals 8.33 years! YES... that's right eight years and 4 months before you even begin to have actually enjoy a savings in your energy bill! DOW IS JUST ANOTHER RIPOFF CORPORATION... OUT TO LINE THEIR POCKETS!
