And so it was when I spoke with the giants
With the night-air of summer turning cold on our skin
And the talk turned to strangers and doctors of madness
And to those on the outside who tried to get in

And the music was lightning, it was almost organic
And the newspaper stories kept our daydreams at bay
And the talk turned to nightmares and monsters of music
And a last gasp of heaven at the end of the day

Suicide city, suicide city, soon, soon, soon, suicide city
Pretty as a razor blade on a bloody day
Pretty as the mess you made of getting laid
Pretty as the curse you made, being afraid
Being afraid, being afraid

And so it was when we took to the highways
And our feet were so humbled it felt like treading on gold
And the talk turned to gangsters and mobsters and liars
And the teen-camp commander whose looked so old

And when the sea threw us up and looked sickly
We held on so tightly for the sake of our friends
And the talk turned to Paris, it's always back to Paris
And outlaws and in-laws
And the way scenes turned ugly as they get near the end

Suicide city, suicide city, soon, soon, soon, suicide city
Pretty as a razor blade on a bloody day
Pretty as the mess you made of getting laid
Pretty as the curse you made, being afraid
Being afraid, being afraid, being afraid,
Being afraid, being afraid, being afraid.

Thanks to Brian, Kid's brother, for the lyrics!

  • Yea thats known but where is he now. By the way pleased you refered to this as a record not cd ipod or some other junk.

  • @rhsprod - He's on THIS record?

  • Claudine Jones i wish i knew . If only to show todays pop (stars) how it should be done.lol After inventing the skeleton violin he's most probably a millionare.

  • Whatever happened to the lovely Urban Blitz?

  • Bet Kid remembers as we do. One night in Scunthorpe The Priory hotel and one very low ceiling. Kid split his head open on the lighting rig but carried on to the end of the night. One crazy night one crazy gig. D.O.M best ever.

  • I saw them twice. Once in 1975 at Brooklands College and jeered them along with all the other hippies! Then they were the support act to Bebop Deluxe in 1976 at Guildford Civic Hall and maybe cos I remembered the act and some of the tunes and they were on a bigger stage they were F*cking brilliant! Yes was 25/2/1976... Then Punk finished them off...

  • @mez7737 Hi I also saw the Doctors At Barnsley Civic I agree it was the best concert i had ever been to. I remember them coming on stage in gas masks surrounded in smoke very erie but great. I bought all their albums and followed their career seeing them again at Sheffield Top Rank. Happy days the young of today dont know what theyve missed. My 2 favourite songs are Suicide city and Marie and Joe.

  • Me and jeff used to work together... spent ages trying to get the fiddle to sound good!

    ........Religion is just a fetish.....
