This is simply divine. My guru taught me a simple gat in Bhupali on sitar and for some reason the major pentatonic mode of the raga just lifts my mood. This video sums up musically what I love about this raga. Thanks for sharing.

First time I come to know about this instrument.Beautiful instrument and rendering.But it being special instrument i guess it can only be used or heard for some special moods(for eg: pitiful kindness as opposed loving kindness) unlike Sitar or Veena.

@cenolbaj harmoniums are used because sarangi, sitar, diluba and esraj take to long to tune during live performances, I like them better than harmoniums but they take to long to tune

People have forgotten all about the Esraj,many dont even know such an instrument exists and what melody it can produce , it is very unfortunate that Esraj never got the respect as some of the other Indian instruments like Sarod , Sitar or Saarangi did.
