  • @MattModist who knows. probably was about 230 here. when i met clean in 07 he was fighting pro 170 and had just fought nick thompson for the second time. he wrestled heavyweight in highschool, and gradually lost more weight. his mma fights were spread between 205 185 and 170

  • @Stevie~It's LADO B LADO A by O RAPPA, braddah.

  • Anybody know what the background music is?

  • I agree...its frustrating, because you are right. He gets distracted with..other things.lol He definitely could be a much finer tuned fighter. That being said, he is a good person, and will go out of his way to sign an autograph or take a pic with a fan ;) NIce, fair chat

  • @G0dspelronin Well you really do have a point with what you're saying. He is successful in top competition, but I think his sloppiness is the main reason why he can't get back to the VERY top. When I watched him back in his gold 2000 year, he was much more precise with what he was doing. Since he got into MMA he has gotten to be much more sloppy since he has to focus on practicing so much other stuff. He is a good teacher, just uses poor technique in his matches, increasingly much it seems :/

  • @crx122 I can agree with you. He does use the tools at hand, which is strength in his case. But, take the time too look at his Grappling only record, and you'll see that he does take out top competitors, and that at the major grappling events. I actually used to think he was brute force only too, until I took a few of his classes. I was/am actually still surprised at how technical he can actually be. As for his losses, he does get sloppy sometimes...we all know how that works. Distracted I think

  • @G0dspelronin Ok, you have to admit though, Monson is much more sloppy than most of the other top grapplers. He does rely on brute strength to get himself out of situations, and that's really the exact reason he has lost some of the matches he has. Seems like he gets sloppy and doesn't even bother to try to use proper escapes, just tries to power out of it. I imagine he is used to that, since he can probably do it in practice with ease, but vs top competitors is a different story.

  • @crx122 After this match, Jeff came to the newly formed American Top Team to learn why he lost this match. He actually has very impressive BJJ for an extrememly large guy, and cleaned house at almost every grappling tourney he did after coming to our team. This is a very old match.

  • Classic Monson, very little technique, and trying to use brute strength to get out of everything. Yawn :/

  • Clean looks pretty stout back then! What weight class was this?
