Thursday 20th October and, in readiness for the Mid-Hants Gala the following weekend, 60163 Tornado, 70000 Britannia and 4492 Dominion of New Zealand were gathered together at Southall and taken, along with two support coaches, to Ropley.
Booked for an 11:45 departure from Southall, the trio were already around 45 minutes late as they passed through Hanwell.
By the time Barnes was reached, most of the lost minutes had been recovered and at Chertsey they were were all but back on schedule.
With the "train" having reversed at Guildford, where Tornado had run round, we caught it three more times, first on the approach to Ash, then at Bentley, and finally at Medstead & Four Marks.
Awesome, three steam locos together. This has to be the best railway sight I have ever seen, don't see that often. Excellent work and the quality is brilliant
