The carry barrel is normally used to carry grass clippings, but it may also be used to store solar heated water. An inexpensive polyethylene tube installed inside the carry barrel may then be used to transfer heat from the solar heated water. This heat exchange system preheats water before it ever enters a oil hot water heater and this can save a lot of oil. it's low cost and easy to build so what are you waiting for?

  • Would it be a good alternative to use floor heating tubes (with alu inner lining) for the heat exchanger? There come with perfect fittings to widthstand water pressure challenges.

How would this be combined with the 5-drum solution for heat storage?
