This is my personal list of the most important movies about the roman empire. Many of them are well know, others not so much. Watch it and tell me what you think!!!!

The music is from another film, a documentary, "Koyaanisqatsi" (1982)...By Philip Glass, nothing new to say, one of the most exciting original compositions for a film. Comment everything you want!!!!!

Todas las naciones que se convierten en grandes imperios lo hacen explotando a otros pueblos. ¿Donde está la decadencia moral de Roma si todos los imperios son iguales?

@aacugna8 Tu mismo estas respondiendo tu pregunta; por el solo hecho de explotar a otro ser humano para enriquecerte promueves la decadencia y el salvajismo, por ende, SI...todos los imperios y sociedades que fomentaron la trata para mantener su status económico y social (en este caso de los patricios, la alta milicia y la aristocracia) son repulsivos, incluso si no eran "imperios" literalmente, ya que en esa época Roma era un pseudorepública.

Acaso no ves que las grandes potencias se apoderan de nuestras riquezas impunemente e invaden a los países que tienen grandes riquezas (Guerra de los Boers para apoderarse de los diamantes de Sudafrica, Guerra Hispanoamericana para robarle las colonias a España, Guerra del Opio para venderle opio a China, Guerra contra el Terrorismo para apoderare del Petroleo de Irak).

En Chile los ingleses se apoderaron de nuestro Salitre y ahora nuestro cobre se lo llevan los gringos.

@aacugna8 Vuelves a responderte a ti mismo y validas mi respuesta al confirmar que todos los imperios abusan del poder, por ende los "valores" decadentes provienen del esclavismo en el caso de Roma, y en el capitalismo voraz y la expropiación de recursos naturales en los ejemplos que citaste después. Punto aclarado. No es necesario que extiendas aun mas tu argumento.

Tu dices en la última pelicula del video que el esclavo espartaco conduce a una rebelión violenta contra un decadente Imperio Romano.

¿De donde sacaste que en el momento de la revuelta de espartaco Roma se encontraba en decadencia?

Estas mal pues en ese momento Roma era muy poderosa.

@aacugna8 El imperio romano, basaba su "poder" en el esclavismo. Como todos los grandes poderes centralizados o imperios de la antigüedad su economía se basaba en el impuestos,tributos y en el mercado de esclavos. Ahí esta la decadencia, tanto moral como en su fragilidad económica. De hecho en la actualidad los Estados Unidos son militarmente hablando una "superpotencia", pero su economía y su sistema de valores son decadentes y van en picada. ¿Ahora lo entiendes?

Yeah, Fall of the Roman Empire was a good one, you can't beat the old classics, they didn't cheat with computers back then, they had to hire literally thousands of stand-ins to do films and they used huge sets. Now we cheap-up on movies. They look good, but they don't looks as good as the real thing in my view. I remember the Robe as well, lots of god movies back then.

The reason "The Fall of The Roman Empire failed to deliver is this:No book except for the Bible had evr been so widley read in the case of "Ben Hur".It was astory of people who were more than just fiction to us.We came to love and cherish them,and they were even more brillent on screen.It captured the hearts of viewers,and brought all of Hollwood to it's knees.The cast was exelent.Ben Hur tells of redemtion and God's love,and The Savior.Ben Hur:A Tale of The Christ,

First,"Ben hur" is the BEST Roman Empire film of ALL time.Simply because it has the message of salvation,and "Spartacus" dose't.If we were judging on who was better looking,Charton Heston or Tony Curtis(antonivis)it would be Tony Curtis in Spartacus.:)

Also,"The Fall of the Roman Empire" was better than "The Robe".The Robe had the truth and joy of the mesage of Christ,but Richard burrton is not nearly as handsome as Stephen Boyd in the fall of the roman empire.

William Wyler's film of Ben-Hur, despite some weakness, has to be the pinnacle of ancient epics produced in Holliywood. The Fall of the Roman Empire should have been as good, if not better, but failed to deliver. Sparticus had too many boring scenes, the other 2 are entertaining but not to be compared to Ben-Hur.
