if this is a UFO theory, take it and go hang out with the 2012 nuts. that smoke trail had been hanging in the air for several minutes before the video was taken, seeing as it's not a straight line. had the meteor still been falling, it'd have to be HUGE, but light as a helium-filled car to stay up that long.
The air explosion from the asteroid was confirmed by independent instruments. Who knows about the shape the smoke, but note that air moves smoke around.
