  • @madcapromanian They arent,what your seeing there is a laminated propeller,its made from thin layers of wood glued in different directions to greatly increase the strength of the propeller,propellers made from one piece are liable to splitting along the grain,also with large timber of suitable quality in short supply,laminates made use of smaller pieces of timber.It looks hollow as its made oversize them milled and profile sanded down to size.

  • They must have been high as kites with all that cellulose dope around which they used to shrink and harden the fabric.

  • I didn't know the propellers were hollow!

  • Here was fitted De Havilland D.H.4's - possibly under license at the Boeing Company.
