  • Any body know if that's a Wan Bernadel bass that Steve Laspina is playing in this clip?

  • No this is my other bass which is a bass that has a Morelli stamp inside of it. It has been in my family for about 60 years. I will be posting a clip from the ISB convention soon and on this clip I will be playing by Wan Bernadel .

He doesn't play licks .He composes while he plays. I'm sure he demonstretes arare type of player. most today are basically not really about the music 's roots. Jim has stated he digs BB King. That saysa lot. Also, in an interview he remarked that he "saw God", after witnessing George Benson play. i dig him alot. He reminds me of all in one package type of player.I like that. He is ahead of most on their instruments conceptually and creatively. He is supremely inspired.

  • Incredible! Always been. Check out his recordings with Bill Evans. They compliment each other perfectly and have very similar styles. He may have the greatest feel of any jazz guitarist that's ever played. In my book for sure.

  • Steve and Joey are great support team for Jim. Steve, was that interlude that Mr. Hall played before you solo by design or did he forget to give you a solo? BTW very nice bass solo.

  • god i love you tube. great post. shear melody. unreal ideas and he continues to create such melodic interesting reharms. huge inspiration much thanks jim.

  • totally wonderful!

  • @Hoopermazing

I was just supporting what you said.

  • @jazz1bro "...He composes while he plays." As does every jazz musician in the world. I'm not saying that Jim Hall isn't the man, because he is. I'm just saying that if you're playing something you've memorized, you've not really playing jazz.

  • as always great playing steve

  • this and exactly this is why I love youtube!! thank you for allowing us to view this!!
