A fee for being disabled in New York? NY Governor Paterson please reconsider your reprehensible idea. Families of delayed and disabled infants and toddlers should NOT be required to pay a fee for services in the Early Intervention Program. That would be like charging higher school taxes for families with children who receive special education service in kindergarten to 12th grade.
I feel the Patterson needs to get a clue. I am the mom of a littlie girl with CP, MR, ADHD and is also autsict., I also work with the perschool group of speacil needs students. Can any one tell me where our tax dollers are going if not for our children? This guy needs to get a life. Familys need these srevices. My daughter has made progress while beening in school. Please do not take the srevices away.

It would be wrong and unfair to charge families of children who need services. In the end it would cost the test more money once they hit school age. We save these young children and give them the opportunity to catch up to their peers. I have seen first hand how important EI services are. This would we devasting to the many families who need this help!

As a physical therapist who has been providing Early Intervention services since 1989 this can have devastating affects on the children and family who need the help and support.
Please do not take this much needed program away.

isn't this discriminatory??? I do not think Gov. Paterson, likes himself, a man with a disability...he should know better than thany anyone else, how humiliating and degrading this would be to the parents of disabled and delayed children.

As an Early Intervention provider, the thought of charging fees to the parents of autistic or disabled children would be ludicrous. If Gov Patterson could only see all the progress these children make receiving these services so young. It actually saves the state money in the long run. Please do not allow this to happen.

Cuts in funding will have a severe and adverse effect on both special needs children and their families.

As someone who has seen the benefits of the Early intervention Program to hundreds of families, I think Patterson's
proposal is abominable. How can we expect to save money when we're not investing in our most valuable resource - our future. If Patterson would see the benefits of the EI program, he would be singing a different tune.

As an early intervention speech provider, what you are proposing is outrageous and unjust. You will be hurting thousands of children and it will only cost you more in the future!!
