The 4 Seasons recorded some of their finest work on the Motown/MoWest label in the early 70s. Sadly, it was overlooked in the US. This track marked the brief return of original member Nick Massi to do the vocal arrangements and also featured Gerry Polci on drums and background vocals.

It turns out that "Hickory" charted on Cashbox for 5 weeks, peaking at #90. After 30+ years of Joel Whitburn's publications, we've forgotten there were other charts. Another ineresting perspective is radio station surveys online and the ARSA site, which has hit and miss station charts and data.

I agree with you, I don't know why Hickory didn't chart.. Franky Valli and the Four Season, one of the best groups ever. I wasn't able to score tickets for "Jersey Boys" in London. All sold out for the week. It's opened in Toronto so hopefully I'll be able to see it there.
