  • @therealcaldini

But did you use a calculator?

  • @MenwithHill Around the world, there are more slaves in 2012 that at any other time in all of human history. Humanity is not progressing.

  • "We're supposed to be preparing children for a working life. Three quarters of the the time, they're bored stiff!"

"Well, I should have thought that being bored three quarters of the time was an excellent preparation for a working life."

  • @mitjakaramatsov That's annoying, but worthwhile. We generally get wiser as a civilisation. 300 years ago, there was slavery, 200 years ago, child worked, 100 years ago, women couldn't vote. And during this time, non-religious people were not considered (It's still the case in Jesusland). Atheism is the fastest growing attitude towards religion in the Western World. I can't think of any religious idiot in my college, and I can easily talk history or science with classmate.

  • @MenwithHill Well I'm debating the same issue with Christian idiots here in London, and worse still, the Muslim lobby as well - they are twice as deluded and ill informed as the Christians. Atheists just need to face up to the fact they have to re-arm themselves with facts to defend the self evident. It's annoying because it's such a waste of time - like being forced to compete in chess with someone who keeps cheating while you have to play by the rules....

  • I never especially minded education. Of course many people don't give a sh*t, I'm a student, I see it everyday. But I don't believe it was any different 20 years ago, or in the 50's. They like to smoke, get drunk, watch weird movies, but in the end they make things and can become something.

  • @mitjakaramatsov I'd blame the fanatic Christian and the other far-right nuts in Deep America that keep teaching young earth creationism. I don't mind debating Global Warming, but Evolution for God's sake.

  • Well all I can say is that some of the dumbest people I've met are from the states, but also some of the most intelligent. Basically it's borderline too big a country to be run as a (semi)centralized democracy in the first place. And before moving to London I had no idea how backward some people could be. Some of the council flat dwellers in England are as retarded as the inbred morons in the red states in America... Yes, NG and History Channel are always a good choice ,D

  • @mitjakaramatsov well obviously compared to European education system...

all i know half of what i know i got from watching BBC programs, American TV only got very uneducated programming. ever watched national geographic or the history channel?

i never went to school in either the USA or the UK, but from personal experience British people i met where far more educated then Americans.
