Hospital Movie Language

The patient is in critical condition!
Critical condition: Almost dead

I need crash cart!
Crash cart: wheeled table with equipment
for treating critical patients.

He is in stable condition.
Stable condition: He is not dying.

You are terminally ill
Terminally ill: You will die soon

I'll sue you for malpractice!
Malpractice: making error that hurts patient

We'll have to keep him on an IV.
IV: Tube going into arm with fluid

We will have to quarantine the area.
Quarantine: Seal the building to prevent spread
of disease.

Move him into the O.R.
O.R.: Operating room (surgery)

Is he an outpatient or an inpatient?
Outpatient: Spending less than 1 day in hospital
Inpatient: Spending more than 24 hours in hospital
