  • Can you still maintain control of the edge by popping your wrist like that? Doesn't twisting the blade of the sword in mid swing screw up the cut?

  • With the round sticks used in the video maintaining edge direction is less of a concern.

    I do a similar technique for SCA combat and it's not difficult for me to strike with the edge.

  • you guys should try SCA rattan fighting

  • I can't speak for anyone in the video, but I do SCA rattan fighting as well as Amtgard fighting. They are different styles - neither good or bad.

    Amtgard = fantasy adventure.

    SCA = attempt to recreate real combat.

    Neither succeed very well as the combatants are generally in no real danger of (serious) injury. Both are fun in their own way.

  • @GeoVII When you do any wrap shot, it's implied that you're using a modified grip. Wrap shots aren't something just invented by amtgarders, they were actual shots used in combat.

  • @n0rmrhino <,< Dag rules hit as hard as u can xD

  • @FroggerSplat911 axes are more limited harder to make harder to use effectively and don't last long.

  • I've liked everything in the series up until the "power generation" portion. Both snapping and rotating the wrist to gain power takes away the authenticity of the swing. Were it a real blade and you rotated your wrist that way, you'd just hit with the broad side of the blade and do nothing. It's functional for boffers because there's no "sharp side" ... but I don't like the idea at all.

    Besides, at full speed, your speed should give you plenty power to let them know when they've been hit.

  • Axe seems like a good idea, but the single striking surface really is a drawback. Often, I'll get wrapped by an axe, or wrap someone with an axe just to find it was the back, which otherwise would have been a kill shot with a sword or bat. If you're a newbie, go for a sword dude. (I realize this is like 2 months late lol)

  • What about Axes? In every Youtube Video all i ever see is Spears, Sword/Board & Dual Swords.. Are Axes No Good in battle? i ask Cuz im a First timer & im Considering Making an Axe(s) for Dual wielding & Axe/Board. maybe u know some 1 /w Axe Experience who Could post a couple Vids on Crafting & Technique..
