Episode # 7 Japan fortifies the island of Rabaul in the Solomon Islands. They use this base to attack Allied shipping, airfields, ports and anything else that comes in their paths. The Americans counter by taking Guadalcanal first and then finally Bougainville. The 3rd Marines land there and take control in 5 weeks of hard fighting. Then the Army engineers only take 5 days to build another airfield to help in cutting off the Japanese on Rabaul. The Allies continue this practice as Rabaul is completely cutoff and ultimately destroyed. Just another notch in the chain of advancement towards Tokyo.

  • @dustinphan who killed over 6 million people because they were Jews or Gypsies? Who shot 3 million Russian prisoners and over 120 american POWs?

  • @EvilFingers The "Embargoes" DID show US unwillingness to allow Japan to continue or expand their subjugation of Asia to the Japanese war-mongering, facist rule. But your comment is rather like a thief saying that he was justified in shooting the cop because the cop would not continue to allow him to steal. The Japanese set up sytematic rape of the resources, women (eg. see "comfort women"), and more generally the people of the areas that they conquered. "Embargoes" were justified.

  • @dustinphan

Youre forgetting the Fact that the United States forced the Japanese Hand to start a War with US, when Congress and FDR placed Embargoes of Goods against Japan and for their Inavsion and Occupation of China since 1938.

  • Kempaku982

Who attacked and slaughtered more than 2,000 American without provocation first? Japan or Germany? And who shot and bayoneted thousands of defenseless American prisoners during the famous death march? After all these and you expect Americans not to hate Japanese during WW2??

  • Well racial hatred against the Japanese was ecouraged.. not so much against the Germans.

  • Probably because its based on the Naval Battles of the war and the U.S navy was much more involved in the battles of Pacific theatre then it was in the Atlantic.

  • The media today has no national pride, but it has only a political idolitry that drives it. I agree with Nazgul001.

  • It wouldn't...NBC will never do a show like this ever again. In any form.

  • It may be me, but I think the writers of the narrator's script are slanted against the Japanese more so than the Germans. Granted this series came out in what 1952/53? Would be interesting to see how the series would look like if it were produced today.
