I think that this would be to stun the fishes in the water to make it easier for them to eat.
I was recently in thailand and noticed two fishermen doing this but with a funnel i presume also to stun the fishes to be scooped up by there trailing net! But i could be wrong.

did the tour guide have any explanation of what this behaviour was?? seems awfully agressive

maybe the whales do not want you around
no, not aggressive, guide has been on the water for over 15 years and described this as playful. He's a marine bio guy so he probably knows his stuff.

What means this? Is he playing? Or just "hanging around"? btw: is it one whale or two? ... fact is: absolutely amazing!!!!

two whales or more - on the left is a flapping dorsal fin, on the right, the whale is smacking down his/her fluke (tail)
