Oh, wait. I'm mistaken about the leaf and the tanooki. It's because the tanooki is also called a "raccoon dog." So Mario can transform into either a raccoon or a "raccoon dog" (maybe he's a furry). The leaf is signifcant in Japanese mythology also. The monsters in Faxanadu were based on Japanese mythology (the story itself was inspired by Norse mythology).

Oh, and Scott Pilgrim and Buckaroo Banzai rule! I thought SPVtW needed Darius Twin style "boss battle" music during the "boss battles."

I never understood what the big deal was with the king being transformed into a diggitty dog. That just doesn't seem like such a mean thing to do. By the way, do you understand the association between a leaf and a tanuki? I never got that as kid circa 1990. "Boo, Haunted House!" is exactly what AVGN said about "Elm Street." Did any of you ever play any of the Splatterhouse games?

SMB3 music is so catchy! Remember Strider and Bionic Commando? They had catchy soundtracks too.
