Chris Miller--Accordion. www.bayouroots.com. This is many times the first waltz of the evening by many traditional Cajun bands, but you will never see it played on a piano accordion! I wanted to do a little demonstration to show that Cajun music can be played on the piano accordion and it can be made to sound pretty darn traditional. The trick is is really knowing what notes to "double" as the Cajuns say, and of course really knowing the tune and the "Cajunisms." Hope this helps some who may have only have a piano accordion (and not the 10 button diatonic that the music is traditionally played on) but are interested in getting a more traditional Cajun sound. Lache pas la patate!

  • Sounds terrific !!!!

It's very close to a Cajun Acoordion and that's because I know that' you play a Piano Accordion.

How many reeds has this PA ?

  • It has three sets--Low, Middle, and High...It sounds even better "live" and even closer to a Cajun tone. It is really the left hand basses that color the sound...I may post one with just the right hand.

  • wunderfolle klänge, ganz toll vielen dank...bitte mehr davon!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is very good. I think you proved that it could be done. I think the PA also opens up new possibilities for added embellishment to the music. (You do some of this with the left hand.) Have you experimented much with chromatic tones on the right hand? Admittedly, this presents challenges, if you want to stay within the traditional sound.

  • ohhh that's pretty now. gave me the fritsonz. LOL. That's the "goosebumps" for all the non Cajuns. I guess that's how it's spelled? Maybe "freesonz"? ish cone'pas.

Chris, you are a Cajun. I hear it in your style. Way to represent. So many videos on YOUTUBE that just don't cut it. Know what I mean? Jelly Bean?

  • That is amazing...

I have three piano accordions but I sure can't play anything Cajun that sounds like that.
