  • What a bloody waste. HDs can be wiped of data and reused. There's no need to crush them. 100% ecologically oriented my ass. Reuse first.

  • We agree with you 100%, however ultimately it is the client that decides. If the client decides that we must shred, then we shred. If not, then we always encourage reuse and credit the reuse value back to the clients or suggest donation as a method of reusing their equipment.

  • What a waste. There are DoD-approved standards for erasing hard drives using software which makes previous data unrecoverable. This practice of "shredding" hard drives is draconian and wasteful, even if you market it to be "environmentally friendly".

  • Please see responses to other questions/comments... but to answer, yes we do encourage data wiping using our EBAN software in order to make reuse a possibility.

  • Yes, 100% true. In fact on the CBC video, after the news clip showing how apparent recyclers were sending their e-waste to Chine, the news clip then showed a company who did it right... GEEP.

  • 100% of it... just go to our website to learn more !

  • The shredding is but just the first process, GEEP separates all of this material into 99.9% + pure raw materials which then get sold to international recycling markets.

  • No, all these drives come from Fortune 500+ accounts, and they do not want their data to find its way back into the secondary markets. Our responsibility is to make sure that their data never seen again by anyone else.... 100% peace of mind.

  • Yes we do, at GEEP employee health and safety is of utmost importance. We are ISO 9001 and 14001 certified.

  • Actually, DBAN is the shareware version of EBAN which is what we use to wipe our client account drives that require data security services. GEEP has the right to EBAN, the enterprise version of DBAN. We use EBAN on all drives that are not obsolete, and only use the shredder option for those that require it.

  • Absolutely, we actually have two options: 1) where we will wipe the information clean using our data security software EBAN to guarantee that all data is removed and credit you the remarketable value, or 2) shred the hard drive which will also guarantee 100% data security... Peace of Mind.

  • Actually, at GEEP, every single bit of shredded hard drive is recycled and the raw commodities (mainly Al and some PM) are all recycled).
