During a Macromedia Director and Flash seminar at the university, my teacher proposed me making a physics engine similar to Havok (available in Director), but in a 2D way. As a result I developed 2D Engine which was a good opportunity to work at a lower level, developing algorithms and building the basics of a 2D engine.

It has the following features:

- Hierarchical structure. Translation, rotation and scaletransformations.
- Sectorial collision controller.
- Perfect pixel, bounding box and circle collision detection.
- Rigid body dynamics.

Music credits: Prophecy - Nature's Lullaby.

  • Did you write this entirely in lingo? and is the physics made for a shockwave 3D member to work with 2D effects? I liked the part with the ball and the vector forces

  • Hi, there.

Yes, I wrote it in Lingo and as I long as I remember it could be used with a shockwave 3D member. As you see, I left (unfinished) this project time ago, but it was useful to learn some basis about making a 2D engine.

  • Nice one there. Maybe you'll even beat Havok in time.
