There's a little known company called Roller Feeder in my home state that beats all the squirrel proof feeder designs out there - we have one and it's 100% squirrel proof or at least it has been in 3-4 years using it - no gimmicks either like batteries or motors, it spins when a squirrel jumps or climbs on it. I like to promote home state products when I can and it's american made where so many are from china - and don't work.

Why not have 2 feeders. One with and one without the Twirler? This will feed both squirrels and birds, and habituate the squirrels to never use the feeder with the dome above it. :-) Unfortunately, after, maybe 1000 years, all squirrels will evolve to never use feeders with domes, and 'Squirell Twirler' will go out of business. :-(
