A small example of what the ADD-One can do. The buttons I am pressing are the manual trigger buttons, but it can be triggered by pads, gates or midi.
Each sample (12 bit 50khz) can be filtered (same filters as the Sequential Circuits Studio 440 btw) and modulated in many ways and can be repeated and re-triggered in various ways (hence the rhythmic patterns that play just by hitting one trigger)
Quite possibly the best drum sampler ever.

  • Great unit, way ahead of its time.

  • @SONORSQ2guy yes it was. Really powerful. I still haven't got to use it fully but will get it hooked up again. It's really a very deep machine.

  • Did you Know how much internal Sounds the machine have ? Are they generated or Samples ? Cheers and thanks

  • @moremojo030 The internal sounds are samples . I can't remember what there are exaclty. I think 5 snares, 5 kicks, a few hihats, 10 toms etc... something like that

  • are these sampled drums or internal sounds ?

  • @moremojo030 Hi there

These sounds are in the machine when you boot it up. Basically they are samples stored in ROM..

With the add drive you can sample your own or load library sounds..

  • this machine is a magic of its time.

  • damn. for 12bit samples sound damn good. but you said it's on 50khz so this is the key.... wish i had this years ago

  • This is a "noiseless" video. =p

  • Your video is a favorite on Canada

  • @whiteeagle1973made

I read in Mark Vail's "vintage synthesizer" book, that the ADD One and other samplers by Dynacord of that time,

were designed by Marcus Ryle and Michael Doidic - they are known because they were with Oberheim at it's "Matrix" era, and also they helped in the design of Alesis ADAT.

  • Probably the most advanced drum system ever built. They really overshot everyone with these. Sweet.

  • great vintage digital drums - does anyone knows who's designed the thing for Dynacord?

    Thanks

  • i just bought this from a pawn shop with the full drum set
