Whitney Houston Live 1999 . In my opinion, this is not Whitney at her prime concerning her vocal skills (In some other Whitney videos that I posted it was her Prime!) Inspite of that, her interpretation skills turn this song into a Great Live performance, very soulfull, taking her experience as a performer, and her knowledge of her instrument as it was by this time (with strong timbre colours, controled vibrato, powerful belting, even if not as crystal clear as before, or with the same agility between registers as she had before... But you can see tears in some people's faces at the end... Whitney always had that magic of adapting her interpretation skills perfectly to the current state of her instrument... No matter what happens, she will bring Soul into her songs... she still brings emotions to the ones who trully understand her talent and evolution as a singer).

This song is taken from My Love is Your Love Album . The event in which this performance happens is the Sport Ilustrated Awards .

I hope you enjoy this video and I hope you'll watch the other Whitney's performances I posted (even better than this one)

Thank you!

  • In the discription, why state she is not in her prime? She sounds amazing, she sounds exactly like the cd. To me that was useless information, and almost hypocritical, since you state after that it is an amazing performace. And this may have been 13 years ago. but to this day Whitney can still deliver, despite of all the medias attacks. Back in the 80s and early 90s, whitney may have been young, but i honestly dont think she was in her prime. Shes one performer who gets better with age.

  • @tharrison0408 I'm a Soul Music lover and W.H. fan.

When I make any comment about music, I'm having in account, not only the fact that I admire that artist, but also my knowledge about the whole subject (it can be a music genre, it can be a specific vocal technic, etc). I Like this performance, True. But I know that Whitney's vocal abilities were better, even only 4 years before this, and that back then she could do it in other different ways. Can't I be free to state my Opinion?

  • What a superb vocal and heartfelt performance. Her big notes have so much conviction here. She was in good voice and could have pushed even more, but the restraint shows respect for the depth of the song. This song is criminally underappreciated.

  • @GiuseppePascuale928 Thank you for comment.

I agree 100% when you say : This song is criminally underappreciated.

I usually post videos of the Younger Whitney at her vocal best, BUT I also think that this is one of her best songs, and it really worked with the already more mature voice she had after 1996, until around 2000...

I always feel touched when I listen to this video! :)

  • Golden Whitney in all meanings=))))Great Great Great!

    Big Thanks to you,soundslikeblue=)

  • one of my favorite performances

  • How I wish she had performed this song more often.. And I think it would be really magical and amazing to hear her sing it nowdays.. Love This Song and Love Whitney Sooo Much!! =)

  • @joohsay lol, when i said, "No they didn't get married" I wasn't correcting you, I was agreeing with you. Maybe I should have said, "Yes, they didn't get married" but that's what i meant, i was agreeing. and yeah if they would have gotten married, they would have been a huge superstar couple. Both the best at what they do.

  • @WH012Vids... I know that they never got married. lol I said that I wished that they had met and got maybe got married. Who cares about the shoes when she should had the man. lol

  • so much presence, so much class, so much elange, so much realness, we miss this kind of performance today

  • Even though this wasn't Whitney in her prime this was still THE voice! And I think My love is your love is her best album.

  • @joohsay No they didn't get married, but they did at least meet. Whitney said he gave her a pair of sneakers.
