In this week's N-FAQs, (which is also my 250th video!!) I go over what the tech-based rates (more specifically, STGs) do right after boot camp. Enjoy!

P.S: Be sure to subscribe to my new channel dedicated to N-FAQs & Navy-related videos at YouTube dot com slash NFAQs.

I'll be taking questions from either channel, but I'd prefer that you submit your questions to my AndySan channel so I don't have to jump from account-to-account answering questions, haha!!

  • @nosweepinginnj - I'm still in school for maintenance so I haven't spent much time on a ship aside from helping out a couple ships for INSERV, but I can say that A-School for STGs is about 2 months long. I can't go into much detail about it cuz it's classified ;)

  • Another weird question is concerning the birth control glasses? I have heard strange things about diffrent forms of birth control pertainting to guys. like injections or stuff in the food. Is this true?

  • @ObSceneTeam - Lol, I'm sure most of what you've heard is bogus. Birth Control glasses is a nickname for the eyeglasses given to recruits because they're so ugly that you won't likely be getting any while you have them on, hence birth control.

  • Hi there, I have recently viewed some of your vids and have found them very useful. My boyfriend just joined the Navy and is off at boot camp. This time apart is really starting to suck. All i know about his job is that he was told he would get a position as a coreman? or a seaman coreman im not exactly sure, do you have any info as to what that involves? as far as schooling or time away from home?

  • @ObSceneTeam - He'll be in Great Lakes for school & then where he goes next depends on what specialty he chooses. Wikipedia has an excellent article about corpsman if you wanna look it up.

  • dude, you are extremely helpful!! i also have advance electronics and by watching this you gave me a ton of information. i was wondering if i will have the time to go to college when i have completed with my training?

  • @chase35 - Thanks!

I'm not really sure if you'll have the time since it all depends on where you're stationed at and what you're doing. If you do have shore duty, then there's a high chance that you will have the time (in some cases they expect you to work toward a degree).

  • as your experience as a sonar tech how long have you spent on a ship ?

  • @calpicon - Thanks sir!

  • Hey AndySan, I am a great lurker of your channel. I liked your post here a lot. It's interesting to hear how the military hasn't changed--even though it has changed a lot since I was a Transportation Officer in the Army (working on boats, no less). My brothers are both military. One was in the Navy (working for the Navy as a civilian after getting out) and another is still in the Air Force. This is a really good video to describe how things go. Good luck in the Navy! Calpicon.
