On May 5, 2009, at the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection (CTCP) hearing on H.R. 1319, Congressman John Barrow (GA-12) questioned representatives from the Center for Democracy and Technology and the Business Software Alliance.
The bi-partisan H.R. 1319, the Informed P2P User Act, is co-sponsored by Rep. Barrow, Rep. Mary Bono Mack (R-CA), and Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX), and would inform users of P2P file sharing programs of the risks associated with using the programs.
