But with reference to the implications of a previous confrontation between the two, it's most like refering to their match in the Destiny Odessy story line.

In the previous war Jecht was on Cosmos's side but he was killed by the emperor. The emperor then turned his body to the side of Chaos.

I actually like the interactions between Jecht and Tidus. ^_^ I kind of remember reading in an article that the reason they chose Jecht was because he has more of a connection with Tidus than Seymour. I mean, Seymour was after his lady love, but Jecht is the father that left him when he was a kid and set the blitzball standard, ya know?

well its how the audience wants to take it yes its non canon but if u just ignore that it makes everything else a bit ironic/interesting to how cameos and references of characters and other things r made within each game
