actually nicotine has proven health effects. it is actually good for your heart and greatly lowers your chance of getting alzheimers. The problem is tobacco, which is the most common way nicotine is consumed.

Hurd Studios: the makers of this and other fine propaganda films.
If I had taken part in the making of this film I would have added something like this to the comment: "As a known altruist (lol), I will now prove to you how badly addicted you are by showing you exactly how (I imagine) the nicotine addiction works. Pretty cool graphics eh? There... much easier to quit now! No need to thank me, my work is it's own reward."

I don't understand the concept of "Addiction". It makes no since to me. I smoked before... its nothing great, i smoked like 2 weeks straight before and it doesn't do shit to me. I have tried many drugs and nothing is addictive lol.

i dont know where to look right off the bat for the answer - but my understanding is over the long haul, the brain develops new connections associated with cues that get the person to go towards whatever gave him the nicotine (the cigarette). I think nicotine works by blocking inhibiting cells on the reward system from working by first stimulating them and then 'blunting them'. But then when u stop these reward blunting cells are more excitable.. so im not sure if nicotine = reward sensitizing
