  • @stlouisgoalkeeping.This is sort of related to this subject but. What are the pros/cons of finger protection gloves vs non finger protection gloves. Thanks P.S great vizualtion videos

  • @GKAaronD

I think there are a couple of things to consider when dealing with gloves with spines and those without. firstly, gloves with spines tend to be much less flexible than gloves without spines. Nike has started to make a pair that is much more flexible than the others, but it still feels stiff to me. Gloves with spines also feel heavy to me compared to traditional gloves without spines. On the other side of the coin, gloves with spines help young players protect against jams and -

hyperflection of the fingers. I personally feel that as a player get older, they should have mastered the correct hand position on the ball so that they don't need to wear gloves with spines in them, but that is just my personal opinion and probably based on the fact that they didn't have gloves with spines when I played. The only other issue with the spine gloves is that when punching the ball, the plastic spines tend to hurt the backside of the knuckles a bit.

  • Your left hand punch is much more economic! Watch as you punch right hand, the left hands needs much space for balancing your movement, watch out, how it 'flies' out to your rear. Take care, that this does not happen. So pull the balance hand back to the hip, or draw the balance hand up with the punching hand to create upwards motion momentum, but arrest the blance hand to the punching arms sholder. Keep the ellbows in and tight.

Don't you can use a pendulum?

  • @SteffenReichel

i've never seen anyone with a pendulum in the U.S. in over 30 years of goalkeeping. I am aware of what they are as I have used them in Europe, but very few goalkeepers of goalkeeping trainers are aware of them here.

  • @stlouisgoalkeeping Does not mean, that this is good or bad... but pendulum work is great, because the ball goes a strict define route, and the goalkeeper has good work on timing to get to the ball, as the video shows. And watch the other videos of the VfB Stuttgart goalkeepers training day. Also you allways have a defined height of the ball, so you have allways the same hieght to reach for and if you punch, there is no need to later collects the balls from everywere.. so go on, use it!

  • @SteffenReichel

the problem isn't the desire to use the pendulum, because I would love to. The problem is having one built for me. I have to find someone who can build me one like at Stuttgart.

  • @GKAaronD im a fairly new goalkeeper and ive found that finger protection also helps me play balls that would normall be to hard for my hand....it allows for a better deflection

  • Very good video, helped alot. But I have a question: When I punch with one hand, does it matter if I have my thumb "pointing" upwards or to the side?

  • @stlouisgoalkeeping made alot of sense! Thanks

  • @stlouisgoalkeeping Ah, understand. Well, that's pitty.

Maybe there is a pole, were you can mount a boom? We often use booms mounted on the fence behind the goals, which can swing in and out... so maybe you can mount this anywere, because it's easy and helps a lot.

  • Potenziamento dei muscoli addominali retti e degli arti superiori, finalizzati alla respinte di pugno o a due pugni. Molto originali ed allenanti gli esercizi. Complimenti e saluti dall' Italia.
