Get a load of this goofy skit! Pulled from the dusty archives, this 1980s video shows a Kirby vacuum cleaner lifting a Volkswagen! Now, thats real suction power! But please, dont try this at home. We just wanted to share one of the lighter moments from our 95-year history.
Grab your video camera and show us what your Kirby vacuum and home care system Can Do. See official website for details http://www.kirbycontests.com

I wonder how many of you were a client of mine. I used the sell Kirbys, in Toronto, in 1988. What a great machine.

Actually, as impressive as this looks the entire concept is quite simple. However many inches of vacuum the Kirby pulls, it's just a matter of having enough surface area to put it to work. They didn't just stick the end of the hose (a few square inches) onto the roof, they have that entire structure that envelopes the entire roof (several square feet) so it multiplied the effect. If you pumped it long enough you could've done the same thing with a hand tire pump. I still like my Kirby though.

This was just a bit of fun. Electrolux ran an ad in the 80's showing the elctrolux lifting a bowling ball. Of course this was ridiculous and this was Kirby poking fun at the electrolux ad. This is actually the second part of the video. The first part shows the kirby lifting 1 then six bowling balls. It is designed to be funny.
