Despite all of that talk that made me look like I'm against the right-wing (which I'm not, only the philosophy that justifies it's purpose is what I disagree on), I'm actually for whatever works, which could be socialism, capitalism, a hybrid of the two (which is pretty much every system known), or whatever! I highly suggest everyone get off of this favoritism bull shit towards right-wing or left-wing and start looking at what works. There are pros and cons to both.

It's not taxes, it's a government that destroys our currency, doesn't represent the people's interest, and invades our civil liberties.

I just think it's kinda silly coupling in socialism as entitling a lack of liberty. Our lack of liberty comes from a government that wastes $1 trillion a year overseas - that sends billions of dollars to rich people in *other countries - that continues to imprison people for drug possession - that has a prison population of more than 2 million - all while 40,000 Americans die each year due to our shitty health care policies. Sounds like to me you are missing the real problems in this country.

To relate taxation and an individuals liberty together is quite strange. First off, you can conclude, with the logic that income tax is bad, that any tax is wrong. If you want a government though, it's something that you unconsciously subdue into. I think it's a long shot to say that we aren't free just because we have a fair amount of taxes.If you ask yourself what makes you happy,it's not having tons of money,it's the relations that we have with our environment and the people in it, that does.

"Socialism steals individual liberty" Do you honestly think that's the problem with socialism?The problem with high taxation(which in my opinion is what we have now)is that it gives the government more money.The US government is wasteful with our tax dollars.They use very little of it for the betterment of society.If our taxes went to such that made society,as a whole,better no one would even question or think that socialized medicine or socialized education is wrong,if *everyone is benefitting.

@frkelsa Don't forget Romney.

@trangaroo882 Yes they are public figures. But that doesn't mean you know everything about them. You can learn more in 10 minutes of speaking with someone, than in hours of researching. I still don't get your objection to them. That they have a viewpoint you don't like, or don't think they should be allowed to have? You can disagree with their views, but you can't argue against their ability to have them. Or claim anyone else's is more legitimate.

@DAngelo136 Both Hayek and Ayn Rand collected Social Security in their later years, contrary to both of their stated philosophies. The bottom line is that before you put a label on someone, you have to define the term. My question: What do YOU mean by "liberty"?
This is what conservatism is suppose to stand for, too bad that the GOP have been hijacked by a bunch of moronic NeoCons like Dick Morris and Newt Gingrich.
Ron Paul for president!

Freedom and Democracy? Tell that to the CIA and the Eisenhower, Johnson, Nixon, etc. administrations. More like Hypocrisy!
