We were night fishing on the Ohio River in Pittsburgh using live 8 inch Bluegill for bait. This flathead catfish bit off a little more than he could crush and choked his way to shore. Luckily we were there to save him!

  • lol it wasnt hooked, it was purely choking? stupid ass fish really do eat almot anything that moves./

  • @samljer Yes.. simply choking. Proving my point that catfish are not very bright. Brings new meaning to the phrase... your eyes are bigger than your stomach!

  • i seen ur other vid and loved it i just found this one i love it too! i never had this situation yet . i'd say hes 6ish lbs maybe a lil bigger. cool stuff man i really wish you had more fishing vids thumbs up buddy and any more u make im sure to watch!

  • @1985BrandonLee Getting ready to put a lot more up! I have some crazy videos from deep seafishing too. I video tape everything. lol.

  • We caught the catfish with the bluegill, but never hooked the catfish. We did not keep the catfish. Too small and we never keep them. Just fishing for sport. Now if it was a walleye than that would be a different story.

  • I disagree with both of you. From being there, that catfish was in trouble. Now, since the bluegill did eventually die I could see how the catfish could spit it. But he wasn't eating it.

  • You should have cut the bluegills spines off

  • that flat head thought he was bigger than he was

  • *it wasnt chaking it was trying to breath

  • That flathead had no intentions of spitting that gill. Catch them like that all the time with live gills. One way action dorsal. Thats why flatheads take them head first. I've caught smaller flatheads on bigger bluegills. They come in just like on your vid. Im not going to say that it doesnt make me chuckle when i've hooked them with the bluegill's dorsal fin though.

  • Awesome footage and Awesome fish!! Love the sport of fishing, wish we had more lakes and river in my area.. Awesome and seems like u guys had a blast...

  • "Now if it was a walleye, than that would be a different story"

From my experience living in Southwestern PA, I wouldn't keep anything caught out of any of the rivers here. These rivers are polluted beyond belief with PCB's, Mercury, Chlordane, and now wastewater from gas drilling. Think back to the Bassmaster classic when even the best bass fishermen in the world could barely manage two day totals in the double digits in total pounds caught. This river system is F**ked.
