Hildagunnar Hauksdottir, 43, lost her job at one of Iceland's largest banks Landsbanki and never knew how well she had it until it all collapsed. In October 2008, Iceland's financial system toppled, taking with it retirement savings, jobs, and hopes. Now, Icelanders struggle to move forward amidst rising unemployment and soaring prices. • So, can we consider those protests as the Icelandic Revolution? Amazingly, those peaceful protests yielded results because the government resigned. I think that in many other countries the government would just have released the army or a larger police force to suppress the protesters. I have read that protest in Iceland have resumed today.

  • and just recently in other countries they are trying to make people to take loans for everything, maybe something big worldwide is coming (?)

  • what happened to Iceland is really sad.

government and the citizens should take responsibility. Currently working on research for the Icelandic Financial Crisis.

  • The people of Iceland are amazing--- I've been looking at a lot of coverage of the crisis there. When the US is fully in the same boat, I wonder if we'll be up to it.

  • this is only a taste of whats to come. this example though would be a good place to start the zeitgeist movement and the Venus project. screw the wtf and there money. Iceland has allot of value and do not realize it.
