Konkani poetry continues to bloom in Goa but, this time, with different flavour. The poets seem to be angry with development that mars long prevailing value system. The famous Mandovi river situated in the capital city of Panaji is an example. Today it houses CASINOS and has been losing its sanctity with unwarranted activities going on in its holy waters.
Konkani poets get conscious of the fact that the builders and the land grabbers have played a big joke on the community of Goans. The very existence of Goan community in Goa is threatened. The Konkani poetry cautions of the impending troubles and ask the people to wake up and gurard the future of this beautiful place and its age old inhabitants with unique identity of their own. They call upon people not to fall prey to greed. One should realize that the flame of life is going to extinguish one day or the other, and so, it should be ensured that it remains illuminated as brightly as possible to give light to the entire human kind.
The poets who present their poems in this programe are: (1) Mr. Ashok R. Chodankar, (2) Mr. Pandharinath Damodar Lotlikar, (3) Mr. Stanely Vaz and (4) Mr. Yusuf A. Sheikh who recorded, edited and produced the video with availble skill inherent in him. ( e-mail: yusufgoa@gmail.com ).
