if you watch again you see he doesn't measure the angle from the red to that bottom right pocket..i think he is actually contemplating a separate safety shot that would involve coming across the table twice and landing up to the red potted. You rarely see a player smile when they play a really good shot.. Neil Robertson being the exception! Its no big deal anyway..;)

@pearl1150 I think you could be right there actually. I didn't think of it in that way, the raising of the hand was done in Murphy's direction, but I still think that smile that he gave was because he meant for it to go in. He did measure the angles after all. Maybe he just wasn't expecting it to go in?

i think he was raising his hand in apology to shaun for the 'fluke' and the smile was for the luck he had in potting it
