Cryptic Praying mantis

--- English --- The praying mantis is a carnivorous insect that takes up a deceptively humble posture when it is searching for food. When at rest, the mantis' front forelegs are held up together in a posture that looks like its praying. These front legs are equipped with rows of sharp spines used to grasp its prey. . They wait unmoving and are almost invisible on a leaf or a stem, ready to catch any insect that passes. The mantis almost always starts eating the insect while it's still alive, the praying mantises also eat vertebrates such as small tree frogs, lizards, mice and hummingbirds.

--- Català --- El pregadéu és un insecte carnívor que segueix una postura enganyosament humil quan està buscant menjar. Quan es quieta, les potes del davant del pregadéu es mantenen juntes en una posició que sembla com que pregui. Aquestes cames del davant es proveeixen amb files de espines afilades utilitzades per agafar la seva presa. . Esperen quietes i són gairebé invisibles en una fulla o una arrel, preparada per agafar qualsevol insecte que passi. El pregadéu gairebé sempre comença a menjar l'insecte mentre és encara viu, els pregadéus també mengen vertebrats com granotes petites, llangardaixos, ratolins i colibrís.

--- Spanish --- La mantis religiosa es un insecto carnívoro que toma una postura engañosamente humilde cuando esta a la búsqueda de alimento. Cuando esta quieta, las patas delanteras de las mantis se ponen juntas en una postura con la que parece estar rezando. Estas patas delanteras están equipadas con hileras de agudas espinas usadas para agarrar a su presa. Esperan inmóviles y son casi invisibles en una hoja o un tallo, lista para atrapar cualquier insecto que pase. La mantis religiosa casi siempre comienza a comerse el insecto mientras se siguen con vida, las mantis también comen pequeños vertebrados tales como ranas, lagartos, ratones y colibríes.

this video is decieving since the name cryptic mantis belongs to Sybilla pretiosa, this video however is a compilation of different species. But it is still a cool video tho, very well put together with so much thought. amazing creatures
