@DreadedFred additionally, things like sea salt and lemon juice help dreads lock up slightly quicker but they do so by drying out the hair a bit, so be mindful of how much you're using. lastly, you'll have to be patient. since you said you have very straight hair, keep in mind that it's going to be a great long while before your hair is fully locked and looking pretty even with a starter method. if a person can't wait a year for their hair to start looking good, dreads may not be right for them.

@DreadedFred them lock on their own. the best thing for dreads is time. that and cleanliness. wash them at least once a week, though I personally wash mine every 3 days or so. the main thing is to make sure that the core of every lock is 100% dry before you wash them again, lest you accidentally promote the growth of mold. also, stay clear of products like wax or glue. they may make the dread look tidier and more uniform in the beginning but they end up causing more problems than they solve.

@HIM2k216 regardless of whether you give them a bit of start using crochet/backcombing/twist 'n rip or just let them form from neglect, you'll want to follow a semi-strict maintenance plan. use a residue free shampoo, keep them clean, don't use conditioner or anything else that makes your hair too slick, and above all else, don't mess with them too much. you can do some separation so that they don't congo and a palm roll every now and then won't hurt too much, but for the most part, just let...

When I made my dreadlocks, I followed this tutorial on making my dreadlocks.
I had my dreadlocks for about... 7 months about, and all they would do is fall
apart. I made them as tight as we could, and used sea salt and other things
to keep up on maintaining them. But like only half of my dread length would
lock up. It was just bad. I have bone straight hair as well. I want to have dreadlocks
again, but does ANYONE have any suggestions on how I could help my dreadlocks
form better or be dreads??

you'll prolly just have some that are larger and some that are smaller. as long as they aren't so large they don't dry or so small they don't lock well you'll prolly be all right. Maintenance might be a lil tougher but not so much that I'd redo them. In all likelyhood they will be fine. =]
