Here is yet another Rage tune to add to the pool. It's about time I dragged out Wulfgang after giving Priscilla such a long run. The only problem is without Primus and Red Hots, my funk choices are more limited. And now youtube has started flagging my 311 videos (not removing them, flagging them to let me know they IDed the songs). Grrr....at this point I have 30 videos that have been flagged, and I'm wondering if they are going to drop the hammer on me.

I make a couple of timing mistakes in the middle...oh well. I was tired after shooting four other videos today.

In the spirit of not irritating youtube and still getting my kicks, I decided to release WMG and UMG bass videos on another site. This site is run by MarloweDK called youplayalong.com. In the spirit of getting this business started, I have shot three videos of Rush songs that I will be releasing on youplayalong.com over the next couple of weeks (as I get time to edit the videos). Be sure to check 'em out if you are interested. Here is my channel there.

I STRONGLY recommend that other bass players who have had videos removed post them there.

Also, in keeping with my promise, here is the link to the audio mix I used for this video (with the bass on it, of course).

If you want old audio files, check some recent videos for a link in a few weeks, and an audio link may be there. It'll take a while to upload them and post the links, and I will be busy editing videos this week.

  • how do you recor bass and music at the same time? im having a problem with this please help!

  • I use a direct guitar recorder. It plugs directly into your computer. It comes with software that allows me to play a tune in one track while recording on another track through the recorder. My "amp" is a digitech BP80 effects processor. The only drawback is that everything is played through headphones....no external monitoring at all.

  • damn it , you always do the best songs before I do!!!! AAAGGGHH!!! Are you reading my mind? oh wait...it IS in the same body...

  • I think if we ever touched, it would open a rift in the space time continuum.

  • Any tips on slapping? When I slap my bass it sounds like shit. Like if the string touched the frets, I get horrible fretbuzz.

  • I have no idea. To be honest, I have never heard of this problem before. Perhaps your pickups are too close to your strings and in the increased amplitude of the string displacement on slapping makes it do that, but this is only a guess.

  • Good cover, as always, but please, TUNE YOUR BASS.

  • Basically Maynard James Keenan (Tool's singer) and Danny Carey (Tool's drummer) join in at the 'slower' part until the scream, which is between 3:00 and 3:30. :)

  • @dLema1 Go on a Jazz video and ask someone again, Jazz bassists are the best slappers when it comes to thumb slapping, they might be able to help you, I hope this helped.
