In the words of the late great Steve Marriott "Newcastle Brown it'll sure smack you down". I've loved the taste of this brew since back in the early 70's and I couldn't agree with you more.

    Rock On

    Randy

  • @NewfieRican Cheers.

  • One thing I can't stand is a freakin beer snob.

  • @baredd79 Me either.

  • It is quite simply the bollocks my friend. You should definately try the bottled version has it tastes even better especially when chilled and may i ask your nationality because you seem to know good beers for a yank unless of course your Canadian then i apoligise for my mistake as i too have drunk quite a few nukies 2nite also.

  • @experimentfive Yes, I'm a Canadian. I personally don't find that nationality in this day and age matters a whole lot for anything, let alone knowing about great beer. I've encountered just as many clueless Europeans as I have North Americans.:)

    Cheers.

  • @Wolfington So what would you suggest?

  • I could review Newcastle Brown in about three seconds "Pffft!!! Can someone get me a proper pint of beer please?"

It's on a par with Fosters, Carling and John Smiths Smooth for crapness.

  • I wish I could get it in the can, I much prefer beer from a can. Even though I pour it in a glass I like cans better. I buy Guinness only in the can, when I buy it.

  • Seriously, I'm from the UK (in fact I live about 45 mins away from Newcastle) and Newcastle Brown is very mass-produced, in fact it's not even made in Newcastle anymore. I think you'll be delighted to try other (proper) british ales, especially Samuel Smith's, Theakston's, or Black Sheep if you can get hold of any of those. They're readily available on good online beer stores. I strongly urge you to try these as, compared to the aforementioned ales, Newkie Brown is seriously crap.

  • I can't believe you like newcy brown! They make it like cool aid:-

    brown powder + canal water.

  • I hear they use adjuncts (corn I think?) and caramel color instead of dark malts. I always thought it was a little weak on flavor, especially for a darker ale. But hey, to each his own. I do dig your reviews.

  • Scottish and Newcastle breweries finest

  • @baredd79 where are you buying beer where the 6 packs cost 17 bucks?!

A 6 pack of Dogfish Head or Sierra Nevada shouldn't run any more than 8 bucks...a 6 pack of PBR rice beer costs what? 5? For an extra 3 bucks you get an infinitely better product made with care and pride by people who care about beer. I'm not saying I've never drank PBR or and Bud/Miller/Coors beer, but you'll never hear me saying they're good.

  • @severedtesticles I've taken the round the world beer tour at Old Chicago. I've also drank everything from Dogfish Head IPA's to PBR. Bottom line, I'm not dropping 17 bucks for a 6 pack every time I run out at the house. If you think I should, Inbox me. I'll give u my address to send the check for my consumption. Otherwise, get off ur uppity trip Thurston B. Howell, III.

  • Life's too short to drink cheap beer.
