Early Pentagram recording when they were still called Macabre. This originally appeared on the second side of a 7" that was released in 1972 and was limited to 1000 copies. The other side had an early incarnation of "Be Forewarned", and half of the pressings were infamous for having Macabre misspelled as Macbre. This particular recording was taken from the First Daze Here collection so I'm pretty sure it's remastered.

  • Space Meat was I believe (you will have to refer to Geof O'Keefe's "BEDEMON" MySpace site.....the same band. All those MACABRE, VIRGIN DEATH, STONE BUNNY type names were PENTAGRAM for chrissakes! Anyone who owns the "First Daze Here" vols. I & II know this! Note: This version was doctored/overdubbed as opposed to the 'original' 7" 45 release! The original master may eventually find it's way onto a legitimate release in the very near future. Trust me!

  • I mentioned that it was remastered in the description...would love to have recorded this from the original 7''! Alright, Pentagram was the apex of a long and fickle pursuit of the perfect name for the band. I just considered it separate since a name can really change the entire spirit of the music, carrying out an idea regardless of whether the members changed or not. Guess I over analyzed it. Thanks!

  • check out stone bunny there the same band

  • Technically not the same band. Stone Bunny was also called Space Meat before Bobby Liebling joined as a singer for a short while. Pentagram was "officially" a different band despite having most (if not all) members from Space Meat at one time or another. But hey, if you have any Stone Bunny or Space Meat, post it!

  • isn't this Walk in the Blue Light?

  • Nope. The intros do sound the same though.

  • This is like 1966 garage rock-meets-Black Sabbath. I like it!

  • just come across this, amazing what you find on here, fucking rocks big time.

  • @ItinerateWolfMop I agree that a bands name can influence their sound, I don't think Black Sabbath would have sounded the way they did when they were known as Earth.

  • Cool stuff, love the hard blues sound. Early metal like this is great.

  • great music..far better than sabbath...

  • @macandjacks rock and roll was at its peak in 72 man! Dont get me wrong this shit is fucking stomping me into the ground but there were alot of other bands that were rockin just as hard. The Dead were at their peak no doubt. SO much energy tho good stuff indeeeeed

  • Another version of this photograph has the top left figure edited out. Who was that person, and why the editing?

  • We've all been in that one relationship where the person seemed so outrageous and mystical, but really ended up being kind of lazy and deceptive. That's what I think about when I hear this song. Fantastic.

  • IMHO the best sounding Pentagram, maybe it's less doom but it has that udescribable, characteristic style

  • NOT BAD,IT KIND OF HAS A 60S KIND OF SOUND TO IT
