  • This proves how completely fucking stupid mac users are, when someone gets a virus, they call it hoax. All systems can get this malware spyware bullshit. But windows just gets more because of the large amount of users.

  • @TheBagelBrotherz

    Sorry about the late reply..

    Ha ha,

Sorry if that was the case then the same people that get infected numerous times on pc would get infected numerous times on mac. But if you think its because of market share, ponder me this why would mac os 7 -9 have infections but not OSX.. Because nobody wants to "Waste" there time, but 3rd party apps/games are on the rise for OSX.. A few trojans exist but die off after a couple of days ? ? Next argument ?

  • @Trister619 "A few trojans exist but die off after a couple of days ? ? Next argument ?" You said it yourself... Mac doesnt get that many viruses because of its less users. THe virus has no where to go to and dies. Its like a human virus but in computers. When a new advacned OS comes out, it wont get alot of viruses because it is new and not everyone has it yet. My school uses macintosh computers and we have a mac lab, and all the computers have a genreic trojan and have to get cleaned alot

  • @MIKEYEKIMIKEY

The question itself would be this generic virus which i think is a trojan. Are you sure its not js/Generic which is a java script applet which can do damage but is highly geared towards windows pc.. which can still be downloaded by a mac but will not function the same.. Like a Windows .exe can be downloaded on a mac but will not run..

As for user base (which is the common argument) OS 8 & OS 9 had less user base than OSX does now, but it was plauged with viruses..

  • @Trister619 Macs will never be as mainstream as Windows based PCs because the Windows platform has more flexibility for big name programmers and almost all financial, government, military and educational institutions use Windows as the OS of choice. The number of softwares for Windows and ones in the making are enormous compared to Macs. In terms of commercial sales, Windows based PCs would always be on top due to the relatively low commercial price (MSRP)

  • @NDogg15

There are currently NO / ZERO viruses for Mac OS X in public circulation. There have been a number of viruses for Mac OS 7, 8 and 9 though.

And Mac OS X is very well protected against viruses, as it does not allow the privilege escalation a virus needs.

Maybe have a look at the "Mac Virus / Malware Guide" on MacRumors to actually learn the differences between a virus and other kinds of malware, which often needs user input. The biggest virus is still PEBCAK.

  • @Trister619 Of course they will make it stronger with new OS.. Like Windows 7, its fresh, and not alot of people had it a while ago and it was like virus free until they got more users but still Windows 7 can resit those viruses more now than previous Winodws versions, the same iOSX, they made it stronger to resist... The Trojan is "Highly Geared" towards the PC, but it doesnt mean the Mac can become totally invincible to it, which will cause damage to the mac, especially if there are in a group

  • There are a few viruses for Mac. That is fact. Hell, believe it or not, it's not even well protected against them. :/

  • Wtf is this shit? Sorry can't really see wtf you are doing since it only goes up to 240p.

  • @Chibicho That is definitely true. Although I would say that Mac OS is harder to exploit than Windows OS due to the Kernel they use and it has less holes. I would say Windows 7 is the best Windows to date due to all the work Microsoft has done to cover most of the security holes.
