This is an information dump about everything I know and remember about softmodding the original xbox.
Xbins FTP is where I got my files back in the day.
MechAssult is the game I used to mod.
Krayzie's nDure Mod is the hack I used.
T3CH XBMC is the media center/dashboard I used (replaced nDure dash via FTP)
XPort is the site that ported most of the emulators, available on Xbins FTP.
http://romhustler.net/ is the site to download the games for the emulators.
Any questions? Leave a comment.
Edit: I found links to XBMC Builds (http://sshcs.com/xbmc/) and Xport Emulators (http://xport.xbox-scene.com/)
XBINS of the obsolete infamous IRC back channels!!!! Bringin back some memories of my frackin' freshmen year of college!!!! It's funny... I still use my modded XBOX 1 more, playing EMU's and music more than the stupid 360!!! BTW, XBMC still lives, minus the games. It has been ported to WINDOWS, LINUX, MAC, and even a LIVEboot via CD or USB. I have a LINUX machine running it and it's great because it can decompress HD content @1080p.

@PAINTuRED I knew XBMC was ported to Win/Mac/Linux and actually has a few projects forked off, like Plex and Boxee (which I use on a Win7 machine for a media center.) It was great software and still is and keeps getting better. There is a way to hack shortcuts in the "Programs" section to launch games and emus on Windows and Linux I have heard, but never tried.
