  • I ran a retail record shop when this came out I even remember the day a few weeks earlier when the label rep gave me a promo copy. Played the damn thing the rest of the day & didn't have any to sell. I still have a copy in excellent condition but play the CD I made of it. This still hold up 30+ years later. Of course no ones' music has held up better than Jim Hendrix. I'll even fight 'ya for that!! Other good pickers out there but still only one......Jimi.

  • Oh Hendrix was in a class of his own but there were and still are some great guitarists this track putting Manzanera in that bracket , thanks for comment my friend .

  • By the way thanx for such a great VID to listen to it by.XXX

  • welcome my friend glad you liked it .

  • Trichoone,I can imagine you,me,a couple of large spliffs, listening to this and sharing our musical tastes.I think you're the dogs bollocks, musically mate.Good on ya !!

  • Clapton's revolutionary work with Mayall & Cream was dismissed summarily-while Hendrix's freak show appeal ,with it's flash ,his audacity, the way that he was marketed as a precursor to "The One "(hmmm that has a ring of familiarity.) lives on .Maybe Fender has a stake All of it "in your face"Jimi's faction always play the "if you don't think he's the greatest that ever lived then you are a Nazi card.Authentic, bona fide musicians such as Steve Howe,McLaughlin,Manzanera, get the loose change.

  • Me, my wife, sitting under the summer stars, stoking the fire, in a hemlock grove-- a stones throw away from the Allegheny river in the Pennsylvanian hills, spliffin, geeking- and listening to Phil Manzanera! Of course the only way to top this was to put on Zappa's CivilizationPhaseIII... I'll go back there again someday....

  • Definitely one of the top 100 guitarists, whatever rolling stone mag says...

  • Sounds really similar to Pink Floyd's Obscured by Clouds.

  • @RangerAlways Thanks I got this phil's personal LP ? but lost

  • how did Hendrix name come up so often during the course of this video anyway...? Phil Manzanera is his own player and he is dam good.........too many references to Hendrix...I like Hendrix too, but right now I'm not thinking about him because I'm listening to Phil

  • @BetterTasteThanU People with a real taste in music, as opposed to simple troglodytes like you.

  • who cares about lame noise like this?

  • @1lightheaded I love to dance about Buildings, and yes, I do talk about music, as do us humans, like pornography' it is a good way of getting educated on what's out there. I've learnt heaps about the sounds and the scenes by talking about it, as I'm sure most of us. Whoever said the architecture/music line was trying just a bit too hard.

  • @1lightheaded How can I say WHAT, exactly?

  • @blacknganga How can you say that ? The more I listen ,the deeper jt gets .He put so much soul in every chord .Maybe you are getting jaded , just kidding .You are right about comparing musicians but " talking about music is like dancing about architecture".
