They ship a lot easier if you kill them first and cut them up so you can stack the meat. That's how zoos get food to feed the big cats.

And after take off they are usually fine, unless there is turbulence. During landing they get a little nervous. As soon as the plane hits the ground, they start whinniing to each other and are fine :). (I went with 5 horses as a groom and stood in that blue container with them during take off and landing)
