Restore GRUB with Ubutnu Live (Try Ubuntu option on the install CD) Then go into Terminal and type the following:
Sudo Grub
find /boot/grub/stage1
(DO NOT TYPE: What ever it says after this command you type in the following command replacing #)
root (hd#,#)
setup (hd0)
quit

If you have grub installed on the ubuntu harddisk change "root (hd1,0)" to "root (hd0,0). if that don't work try changing it until you boot...

I've got a problem too, but my GRUB write error 16 on my screen. I don't exactly know what I can do. So I feel with you! :(
